In this episode of Vino Diaries, Valerie Combs of Buzzlogic discusses Social Media PR with Katie Paine, Founder of the KDPaine online campaigns measurement agency.
While I can say whatever I want, I'm a few light years from outsmarting Katie Paine. However, I do not agree with the idea that what people say online converts into actual behavior off-line. Actually, it rarely happens to see someone say something engaging, and actually convert it into action. It's even more unlikely online.
Mostly when it comes to politics: Our online life is often used as a frustration outlet, mostly when our physical environment is too rigid. Sometimes, it just feels good to be somebody else online, or to support the candidate that it is taboo to support in your small town. Do stuff you'd never do in real life.
The online world resembles a chimerical projection of our social fantasies. I think it's a mistake to measure engagement by measuring online social behaviors.
That's what sparked up in between two neurons while I was watching this video. What's your take on it?
